Data Sources: Wind data contained in this report is Global Summary of the Day (GSOD) from the US Air Force Climatology Center. This data can be accessed through the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). Measurements from stations across the country are quality controlled and stored in a daily summary format. The days here are 0Z-0Z, with the date shown being the date the report started. In this report we use the maximum 5-second wind gust and the maximum 2-minute sustained winds for each date. For more information please visit http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/data-access/land-based-station-data/land-based-datasets. Data is interpolated across the United States using these stations. The input location then goes to the nearest interpolated point and uses those values for this report.
